"KT Signs Business Agreement with Gyeongsangbuk-do to Activate Digital Platform"
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced that on the 16th, it signed a business agreement for 'Joint Cooperation to Lead the 4th Industrial Revolution through Digital Platform Activation' with Gyeongsangbuk-do at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Eastern Government Complex.
Through this business agreement, KT and Gyeongsangbuk-do agreed to cooperate in three main areas and seven detailed tasks: ▲ COVID-19 response and regional economic revitalization ▲ discovering future growth engines ▲ revitalization of the provincial government new city. To strengthen the execution of the agreement, KT and Gyeongsangbuk-do plan to form a team leader-level working council and hold quarterly meetings to continuously monitor implementation and discover new tasks.
First, to respond to COVID-19 and revitalize the regional economy, KT will pilot and operate this year the ‘Vaccine AI Voicebot Call Center’ and the ‘Small Business Commercial Area Information Service (Jalnagage)’. The Vaccine AI Voicebot Call Center allows AI counselors to provide pre-guidance and consultation to vaccine recipients, reducing frontline public officials' workload and enabling rapid response.
The Small Business Commercial Area Information Service (Jalnagage) provides (prospective) entrepreneurs and store owners with information such as floating population, sales data, and customer movement paths in surrounding commercial areas, which is expected to not only enhance startup consulting effects but also reduce the closure rate of self-employed businesses. Additionally, to expand sales channels for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s agricultural specialties, KT Group’s Genie Music-operated Togetherwell will be linked with Gyeongsangbuk-do’s agricultural specialty shopping mall ‘Saiso’.
Gyeongsangbuk-do will promote data-driven administration activation and administrative service innovation across the provincial government by utilizing KT’s big data technology and information to discover future growth engines. They also plan to cooperate in government public projects such as building low-latency 5G MEC within the metaverse industrial complex and regional balanced New Deal activation projects. To revitalize the provincial government new city, KT plans to construct a new KT communication station by 2023 to improve the communication service environment for local residents using wired and wireless phones, high-speed internet, IPTV, and more.
KT CEO Hyunmo Koo stated, “KT’s digital platform capabilities, including artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and cloud, are among the best in Korea,” adding, “We will apply KT’s technology to support the 4th Industrial Revolution fields that Gyeongsangbuk-do aims for and contribute to improving residents’ quality of life and revitalizing the regional economy.”
