President Moon: "We Are Rated Much Higher Globally Than Expected"
After Completing State Visit to Austria, Posts Reflections on SNS... "Now It's Time for Us to Believe in Ourselves"
[Austria (Vienna) = Joint Press Corps] President Moon Jae-in stated in a message posted on social networking services (SNS) on the 15th (local time) after concluding his state visit to Austria, "I feel it on the diplomatic front. In the economy, overcoming COVID-19, and in culture and the arts, we are receiving much higher recognition in the world than we think."
President Moon said, "Now it is our turn. We can become a leading country and create a peaceful Korean Peninsula to announce a new beginning in world history. Our people have sufficient qualifications and the ability to achieve this."
President Moon emphasized, "The political, scientific, humanities, and artistic achievements of Austria, born from the Danube River, are excellent. However, the miraculous history achieved by the Han River is no less. As I leave Vienna and head to Madrid, I believe it is now time for us to believe in ourselves."
Meanwhile, President Moon shared various reflections related to his state visit to Austria. He explained, "Austria is the homeland of the two angels Marianne and Margaret, who cared for Hansen's disease patients on Sorokdo, and it is a country of classical music that produced great musicians loved by our people, such as Mozart, Johann Strauss, and Schubert."
President Moon said, "Although it has been 129 years since we established diplomatic relations, this is the first visit by a Korean president. The two countries have established close cooperation in the hydrogen industry, carbon neutrality, culture, and youth exchange, and elevated bilateral relations to a 'strategic partnership'."
President Moon expressed expectations, saying, "For Austria, this is the second relationship established after Switzerland, another neutral country. The combination of Austria's advanced science and technology and our commercialization capabilities will provide an opportunity for both countries to leap forward."
President Moon said, "Austria's strength lies not only in its pride as the center of European history and culture but also in being a neutral country that overcame the crisis of division," adding, "Austria was a defeated country in World War II, but it gained the trust of the victorious countries through the successful formation of a coalition government encompassing both left and right."

President Moon evaluated, "After ten years of divided rule, Austria achieved complete unification. Even now, it maintains a stable political structure through a grand coalition transcending ideology. With that strength, Austria greatly contributes to world peace along with numerous international organizations located in Vienna."
