Yeonggwang-gun to Host 'Water Skiing and Wakeboarding Championship' Starting from the 17th
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 15th that it will host the "34th National Men and Women Student Water Ski and Wakeboard Championships" at Bulgab Reservoir Water Ski Resort from the 17th to the 20th.
Hosted by the Korea Water Ski and Wake Sports Association (President Park Dongju) and organized by the Jeonnam Water Ski and Wake Sports Association (President Hong Seonggwon), this competition will feature over 300 athletes and officials nationwide competing in five events: wakeboard, wakesurf, jump, slalom, and trick to determine the strongest competitors.
Water skiing is gaining popularity every year as a summer leisure sport because it allows people to escape the summer heat while exercising.
The county has been hosting national-level water ski competitions annually since 2008 and promoted the county internationally by hosting the Asia Water Ski and Wakeboard Championships in 2016.
Since this competition is held amid the COVID-19 situation, participating teams must submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate.
The county plans to thoroughly implement quarantine measures against COVID-19, including daily temperature checks and disinfection, while proceeding with the event.
