The GoGo Challenge is a relay environmental protection campaign started by the Ministry of Environment in January this year. Participants promise one action to avoid and one action to take to reduce plastic use in daily life through SNS, and then nominate the next challenger.
President Kim chose the slogan for this campaign as "Reduce plastic use GO! Make tumbler use a habit GO! Practice ESG management with 愛 (Ae) (ESG)!" He posted a photo on Incheon Airport's official SNS account pledging environmental protection through plastic reduction and the practice of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) management at Incheon Airport.
He also nominated Son Chang-wan, President of Korea Airports Corporation; Kim Jin-sook, President of Korea Expressway Corporation; and Kwon Yong-bok, Chairman of Korea Transportation Safety Authority as the next participants in the campaign.
Incheon International Airport Corporation aims for a "Plastic-free Incheon Airport" and to raise awareness of environmental issues such as waste plastic and solve problems. In April 2019, it opened the 'Eco Up Lounge' at Incheon Airport Terminal 2, created by upcycling discarded travel bags within the airport.
Recently, through the '#PlasticZERO Campaign,' the corporation has been encouraging voluntary participation of employees by promoting tumbler use, eco-bag use, and eco-friendly duty-free packaging materials. Within the airport, the duty-free shops have improved their carrying tools, significantly reducing the use of air cap packaging for duty-free goods from three layers to one layer, and since February this year, have introduced biodegradable eco-friendly duty-free shopping bags.
