Now Is the Gangseo Era! ... Who Is the Main Character?
Gangseo-gu, Gangseo Video Creators Operate 'Now Is Gangseo Era'... Diversifying District Promotion Through Resident-Produced Video Content... Recruiting 8 Teams from June 17 to July 16
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Resident YouTubers vividly convey the unique charm of Gangseo-gu that was previously unknown.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will operate the Gangseo Video Creators program, "Now is the Gangseo Era," to promote public-private cooperation and activate online publicity.
"Now is the Gangseo Era" allows residents to become official YouTubers of Gangseo-gu and creatively capture various aspects of the district's administration through videos.
This reflects recent media trends based on social media, aiming to enhance both the effectiveness and popularity of district promotion through videos produced directly by residents.
It is expected that many new promotional video contents for the district will be discovered through the participation of talented residents.
"Now is the Gangseo Era" will run from August 1 to December 31, taking on the role of planning and producing promotional video content about Gangseo’s attractions, tourism, and lifestyle information.
Teams will produce 4 to 5 video contents during the activity period by covering major festivals and policy sites.
Moving away from content focused solely on information delivery, creators’ creativity and planning skills will be maximally reflected in the content and format to make district administration easier and more enjoyable to communicate.
Before the operation, the district will recruit 8 teams to participate in "Now is the Gangseo Era" from June 17 to July 16. Any Gangseo-gu resident or person attending school or working in the district can apply individually or as a team of up to 4 members.
Residents wishing to participate should submit an application form, consent form for personal information collection and use, and a video they personally produced and edited to the person in charge via email.
The video should be 1 to 5 minutes long and related to Gangseo-gu, covering topics such as nature, tourism, culture and arts, district administration, things to do, and sightseeing.
Videos that are not original works, expose personal information, contain advertisements, violate election laws, or do not fit the purpose of the recruitment or public interest will be excluded from the screening.
More details can be found on the Gangseo-gu Office website under News Plaza - Notices/Announcements, where application forms can also be downloaded.
Based on the submitted videos and application documents, 8 teams will be selected, with results posted on the district office website on July 27 and individual notifications sent to the selected participants.
The district will support part of the production costs for the selected videos to ensure no difficulties in content creation and will actively use the videos for district promotion by posting them on the official Gangseo-gu YouTube channel, "iGangseoTV."
A district official said, "As the importance of online promotion has increased due to the COVID-19 situation, we will strive to share more district information based on residents’ creativity. We hope many talented residents will participate to serve as a bridge connecting the district and its citizens."
