Yangsan-si to Conduct One-Month Intensive Cleanup of Abandoned and Illegal Vehicles
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct a comprehensive cleanup of abandoned vehicles for one month starting from the 14th.
The targets for cleanup are vehicles that have been left unattended for a long time on roads or residential areas, vehicles abandoned on someone else's land for more than two months without justifiable reasons, illegally registered vehicles under another person's name, and unused registered motorcycles.
Owners of abandoned vehicles are encouraged to voluntarily remove them; if they do not comply, the vehicles will be forcibly removed through towing or scrapping.
After removal, a fine of up to 1.5 million KRW may be imposed, or the case may be sent to prosecution, resulting in imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW.
Additionally, illegal operation of vehicles registered under another person's name may result in imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW, and those who violate driving suspension orders will be fined up to 1 million KRW. If an unused registered motorcycle is found operating, a fine of 500,000 KRW will be imposed.
Reports of abandoned vehicles can be made to the Yangsan Vehicle Registration Office.
