With this declaration ceremony as an opportunity, LS Cable will establish an ESG committee and a dedicated department to strengthen the development of eco-friendly products and safety management. LS Cable has been practicing eco-friendly management for some time, considering environmental impacts at each stage of product research and development and identifying information related to hazardous substances in advance to develop products such as eco-friendly PP cables.
The core ESG tasks selected include ▲ responding to climate change through green infrastructure innovation ▲ realizing a safety-first workplace ▲ practicing fair and transparent ESG management. LS Cable Chairman Koo Ja-yeop said in his ESG management declaration speech, "As a company responsible for the 'blood vessels' that deliver energy and information across industries, we declare ESG management to participate in efforts to restore a healthy Earth and realize the social value of the company."
LS Cable will also promote ‘RE100,’ which aims to cover 100% of electricity used at all business sites with renewable energy by 2050. They plan to achieve RE100 at the Donghae plant in 2024 and the Poland plant in 2025, then expand it to all business sites. LS Cable also plans to increase the proportion of eco-friendly products among its manufactured products to 50% by 2030. Additionally, they intend to establish a system to collect and recycle customers’ waste cables, taking responsibility for the disposal of sold products.
