Hampyeong Expo Park Prioritizes Residents' Safety, Water Playground Closed This Year

According to the county on the 14th, to prevent the local spread of COVID-19, the operation of Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground, which has been open every July and August, has been canceled again this year.
Before the spread of COVID-19 in 2019, the number of visitors reached about 57,000, and since delivery food was allowed inside the water playground, its impact on the local economy was significant. Although the closure decision is regrettable, the health and safety of county residents is the top priority.
The county added that most users are vulnerable to virus infection, such as infants, children, and adolescents, and due to the high density, it is difficult to comply with quarantine rules such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing (2m). Considering the spread of COVID-19 variant infections, the closure decision was made with difficulty after comprehensive consideration.
A county official said, “Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground is a representative summer recreational facility in Jeonnam Province that attracts many vacationers every holiday season. Although it is regrettable to take a break this year due to COVID-19, we will carefully prepare from now on to transform it into a premium relaxation space by expanding new experiential water play programs and reinforcing the water playground.”
