According to the county on the 12th, 3,700 brood octopuses were released on the 8th along the coast of Doripo and Yongyu in Haeje-myeon, and 1,800 brood octopuses are planned to be released along the coast of Guro in Cheonggye-myeon on the 21st.
For this release, the county purchased male and female octopuses and crossbred them for 3 to 4 days at the Jeollanam-do Resource Development Research Institute. During the closed season (June 21 to July 20), the octopuses will undergo spawning and growth processes at the octopus farms.
So far, to restore octopus resources, Jeollanam-do and the Fisheries Resources Corporation have created five octopus farms covering 42 hectares, and Muan County has created 10 farms covering 50 hectares. With the addition of three more farms covering 9 hectares this year, the total number of octopus farms in Muan County will expand to 18 farms covering 101 hectares.
Once this project is completed, it is expected to greatly contribute to increasing the income of local fishermen and revitalizing the fishing village economy.
