Suncheon-si Creates Dreamlike Spaces Through School Space Innovation Support Project
This Year, 8 Schools Selected for Suncheon-si Education Expense Space Innovation Project Support
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 11th that, building on the great response to last year's 'Cafe-style Study Room Creation' and 'School Innovation Project for Balanced Development,' it will select and support a total of 8 schools through a public contest for this year's school space innovation project.
The school space innovation project will provide educational expenses totaling 520 million KRW to 8 schools: 300 million KRW to 3 high schools and 220 million KRW to 5 middle schools.
At the on-site evaluation, each school stood out with open plans for school education involving not only student ideas from the planning stage but also local residents, demonstrating significant recent changes in school education.
A school official said, "Because of old and inconvenient school spaces, students who used to look for study spaces outside of school like study cafes want to create a dream-like space where they can say, 'I go to school to study.'"
A city official stated, "This year, focusing on the middle school 'Free Semester System' and the high school 'High School Credit System' preparations, we hope the spaces will be reborn as places for enjoyable school life for children and as educational governance spaces connecting village education with school education alongside local residents."
