Seongbuk-gu Kkumdeulim Strives for Human Rights Improvement and Proper Growth of Out-of-School Youth, Offering Various Programs Tailored to Individual Needs Including Academic Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu Youth Support Center Kkumdeulim received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Commendation for ‘2021 Youth Development and Protection Merit’ on the 10th in recognition of its active support for out-of-school youth and exemplary operation.
The ‘Youth Development and Protection Merit Award’ is given to individuals or organizations that have contributed to the healthy growth of youth and the creation of a youth-friendly social environment. It is awarded to raise public interest in youth development and protection.
Seongbuk-gu Youth Support Center Kkumdeulim is working to improve the human rights of out-of-school youth and provides various programs tailored to individual needs to help youth in difficult circumstances grow properly.
Due to these efforts, youth using Kkumdeulim received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Commendation in the youth category of the ‘2020 Youth Development and Protection Merit,’ and this year, it was honored with the ‘Seoul Citizen Award’ in the Creative Science and Arts (Youth) category.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “I congratulate Seongbuk-gu Youth Support Center Kkumdeulim (Director, Lee Eun-seon), which continuously strives to provide a healthy growth and proper learning environment for out-of-school youth, and hope they will continue to work hard to make Seongbuk-gu a happy place for youth.”
Seongbuk-gu Kkumdeulim created a dedicated space last January near Seongsin Women’s University Station on Subway Line 4 to provide out-of-school youth with a place to freely engage in activities and access various experiences and learning opportunities.
