The city is conducting relay meetings by key population policy promotion areas from childbirth to old age to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
Recently, following the promotion of practical consultations with POSCO Human Resources Creation Institute for the Elderly Response Retiree Vitality City Project, the city met with representatives of the Real Estate Brokerage Association to provide information on new apartment sales and promote moving-in benefits.
This time, the meeting focused on low birthrate issues, discussing past project achievements, 2021 project plans, and department-specific countermeasures.
This year, Gwangyang City's low birthrate policy aims to "create a society where people work and care together," featuring 14 representative projects including ▶ Operation of the Gwangyang-type Care Gwangyang I-Keum Center ▶ Support for newborn childcare and postpartum care costs ▶ Issuance of happiness coupons for mothers with multiple children ▶ Support for care communities ▶ Expansion of national and public daycare centers ▶ Operation of the Gwangyang City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center.
Additionally, various organizations such as the Gwangyang City Childcare Foundation are individually promoting projects to change perceptions and encourage practical participation in childbirth, childcare, and care.
Through relay working-level meetings, the city discussed problems and improvement measures, and agreed to hold full meetings of the Population Vitality Promotion Committee and citizen forums to discuss the direction of Gwangyang City's population policy.
Furthermore, it was agreed to jointly respond to future government joint evaluations and public contest projects.
Cho Sun-mi, Director of Strategic Policy Office, said, "All departments, centered on the working-level team leaders, will participate in mid- to long-term population policies suited to local conditions and strive to implement comprehensive solutions to population issues, thereby realizing Gwangyang as a happy city for its citizens."
Meanwhile, since 2017, the city has achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards for three consecutive years at the Low Birthrate Response Excellent Policy Contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
