Ji-eun Kim's First Hearing on 300 Million Won Compensation Lawsuit... An Hee-jung "No Liability for Compensation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung, who was sued for damages by Kim Ji-eun, who sparked the Me Too movement by exposing sexual assault, denied liability for damages at the first trial.
The Civil Division 22 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Oh Deok-sik) held the first hearing on the 11th for the damages claim lawsuit filed by Kim against former Governor Ahn and Chungcheongnam-do, confirming the positions of both the plaintiff and the defendant. Ahn’s legal representative submitted a written response before the trial denying illegal acts, causation, and secondary harm, and when the court reconfirmed this position in court, they answered "Yes." The Chungcheongnam-do side submitted a written statement to the court stating that "this is a personal illegal act of former Governor Ahn and unrelated to his official duties."
The defense requested a submission order for records from the National Health Insurance Service to verify whether Kim, who claims to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), actually received psychiatric treatment. Since Kim’s side did not object, the court accepted the request. The court then asked Kim’s side to submit materials that could confirm what kind of treatment was actually received at the hospital and set the next hearing for the 23rd of next month, concluding the trial.

The trial was conducted with only the legal representatives of both parties present. Attendance is not mandatory in civil litigation. Previously, in July of last year, Kim filed a lawsuit claiming 300 million won in damages from former Governor Ahn and Chungcheongnam-do, stating that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder due to Ahn’s crime.
