Bar Association Imposes 10 Million Won Fine on Kang Yong-seok for 'Violation of Dignity Maintenance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] Attorney Kang Yongseok is reported to have been fined 10 million KRW by the Korean Bar Association (KBA). The reasons include violations of the duty to maintain the dignity of lawyers, such as inappropriately exposing others' private lives.
According to the legal community on the 11th, the KBA held a disciplinary committee meeting on the 17th of last month and imposed a fine of 10 million KRW on Attorney Kang for "violation of the duty to maintain the dignity of lawyers." Disciplinary measures under the Attorney-at-Law Act are classified into permanent disbarment or disbarment, suspension, fines, and reprimands.
In April 2019, Attorney Kang exposed the private life of Mr. A, a famous internet clothing shopping mall operator, on the YouTube channel Garoseuro Yeonguso. The KBA regarded Kang's claims at the time as "reckless statements about others' private lives without verification of facts" and imposed a fine of 10 million KRW.

Previously, in 2015, Attorney Kang was also fined 10 million KRW by the KBA after being convicted in a criminal trial. At that time, Kang made disparaging remarks about a female announcer and was fined for falsely accusing a reporter who reported the incident.
