View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Lee Jung-soo, the newly appointed Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (age 52, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 26), stated on the 11th, "To regain the trust of the people, the prosecution must be 'strict yet humble.'"
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Central District Prosecutors' Office building that morning, Chief Prosecutor Lee said, "It is a difficult and challenging time in many ways. There have been significant changes in the system, and the public's critical gaze remains."
He continued, "We must respond firmly to corruption and social evils," adding, "At the same time, we must listen to unjust voices and empathize with social pain. Reflection on past actions is also necessary."
Chief Prosecutor Lee particularly emphasized communication and respect to the prosecutors. He said, "Let us understand and listen to the fact that each person has different thoughts and roles," and "Do not dismiss comments as mere ignorance or obvious claims; instead, let us consider if there is anything we have overlooked." He also stated, "We must always keep in mind the value of human rights built through historical sacrifices and never forget tolerance and consideration for the socially vulnerable."
Chief Prosecutor Lee arrived at work at 9 a.m. that day, held the inauguration ceremony at 10 a.m., and officially began his duties.
