Dobong-gu, Recruiting Households for Greenhouse Gas Diagnosis Consulting Participation
Up to 230 Households to Join Greenhouse Gas Diagnosis Consulting by End of June on a First-Come, First-Served Basis... Matched Energy Consultants Analyze Household Energy Usage and Lifestyle Patterns... Consulting on Energy Saving Measures Such as Standby Power Cutoff and Boiler Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) will conduct 'Greenhouse Gas Diagnosis Consulting' for households in the area until December to encourage energy-saving practices among residents and enhance the effect of greenhouse gas reduction.
To this end, Dobong-gu is recruiting 230 households in the area on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the consulting by the end of June.
Participating households will be matched with a total of six energy consultants who will use greenhouse gas diagnosis sheets to check the household's energy consumption and lifestyle patterns.
The consulting will be conducted by phone or in outdoor spaces where social distancing can be maintained to prevent COVID-19 infection, as was done last year. The sessions will cover ▲ cutting standby power of home appliances and proper usage ▲ energy-saving methods through improvements such as insulation, windows, and high-efficiency lighting devices ▲ seasonal boiler management ▲ and practical energy-saving methods in daily life such as heating and cooking.
In fact, greenhouse gases emitted from non-industrial sectors such as households account for about 40% of South Korea's total greenhouse gas emissions. Since the reduction cost is lower and the effect occurs in a short period compared to the industrial sector, the district expects that the higher the interest and participation rate in this consulting, the higher the achievement rate of carbon neutrality.
Meanwhile, on April 22, Dobong-gu held the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Practice All-Residents Resolution Rally' to mark 'Earth Day,' promoting the 'Dobong-gu Residents' Pledge to Reduce 4 Tons of Greenhouse Gas per Person' campaign that anyone can practice in daily life, and is fully committed to comprehensive publicity toward carbon neutrality.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “Achieving a carbon-neutral city that reduces the net emission of carbon dioxide, the main cause of greenhouse gases, to zero requires the role of all Dobong-gu residents.” He designated June as a boom-up period in celebration of the 26th 'World Environment Day.' During this period, he hopes everyone will start a carbon-neutral lifestyle that anyone can practice in daily life through the district's key initiatives, the 'Dobong-gu Residents' Pledge to Reduce 4 Tons per Person' campaign and the 'Greenhouse Gas Diagnosis Consulting.'”
