HDC Group Chairman Chung Mong-gyu is holding a press conference on the collapse of a demolished building in Gwangju at the briefing room of Gwangju City Hall on the morning of the 10th.
Jung Mong-gyu, Chairman of HDC Group, officially apologized on the 10th regarding the building collapse accident in Gwangju. HDC Hyundai Development Company is the construction company for the housing redevelopment project where the accident occurred, resulting in 9 deaths and 8 injuries the previous day.
On the same day, Jung held a press conference at Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall in the morning and said, "I sincerely apologize to the victims, their families, the injured, and the citizens," adding, "I deeply feel the heavy responsibility."
He stated, "We will do our best to restore the damages to the bereaved families and to promptly handle the accident," and "We will establish company-wide measures to prevent recurrence."
Jung bowed his head again and said, "Once again, I sincerely apologize to everyone suffering from this accident and to the public."
