According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, the number of new nationwide COVID-19 cases from midnight to 6 PM on this day was 502, which is 12 more than the previous day.
By region, 358 cases (71.3%) were in the metropolitan area, and 144 cases (28.7%) were outside the metropolitan area. By city and province, there were 190 cases in Seoul, 149 in Gyeonggi, 31 in Gyeongnam, 25 in Daegu, 19 each in Incheon and Daejeon, 16 in Chungbuk, 15 in Gangwon, 12 in Busan, 9 in Jeju, 8 in Gyeongbuk, 3 in Gwangju, and 2 each in Ulsan, Chungnam, and Jeonnam. There were no confirmed cases in Sejong and Jeonbuk.
The number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of midnight on the 10th is expected to increase further to around 600. On the 8th, the number of confirmed cases increased by 112 after 6 PM, totaling 602.
The average number of new confirmed cases over the past week was 602 per day. On the 5th, it surged to 744 but has remained above 400 to 600 in the past four days.
The daily average of locally transmitted cases, which is an indicator for adjusting social distancing levels, stands at 583, remaining within the level 2.5 range.

In Hwaseong city, 10 people related to acquaintances and daycare centers were confirmed positive. Regarding the cluster infection at a nightclub in Daegu, 31 additional cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 361, and there are 68 confirmed cases related to a foreigner restaurant in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam.
