The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is operating its own situation management team and has dispatched a situation manager to the site. A joint situation inspection meeting was held with related agencies including the Blue House, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, National Fire Agency, and National Police Agency.
At around 4:23 p.m. that day, a building under demolition in Hak-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju, collapsed, covering a city bus and passenger cars passing nearby. Reports were also received that some workers were buried.
The fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 2' alarm, mobilizing personnel and equipment from the jurisdictional fire station and 5 to 6 nearby fire stations, and began rescue operations.
