It is known that about 10 passengers were on the city bus, and the two other vehicles were completely buried, so the number of occupants is unknown.
The fire authorities estimate that the vehicle occupants and workers who were demolishing the building were buried together.
Although a Gwangju Fire Headquarters official explained that three deaths occurred during the rescue process, it was reported to have been a miscommunication during the telephone report.
The fire authorities announced again that eight people have been rescued so far and there are no official deaths.
At the time, the building began to collapse during demolition, and the temporary scaffolding surrounding the construction site also collapsed, covering a city bus and two passenger cars passing on the road right in front.
