A graduate senior who hurriedly came from Gwangyang, Jeollado, shared, one word at a time, the joy and pride on their face after obtaining the difficult professional engineer certification (landscape architecture section).
The junior student's eyes reflected curiosity, eager to learn the secret techniques, replacing the usual ‘lively chatter’ with attentive gazes.
Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) planned an event to revive the study atmosphere that had stagnated due to COVID-19. With the purpose of instilling vision in current students, they decided to hold a ‘Relay Talk Concert with Alumni’ event.
The first speaker was Cha Jeong-mi (42), a graduate. Ms. Cha is a fresh news source, having obtained the landscape architecture professional engineer certification in May, a qualification that only about 10 people nationwide pass.
“How did you study?” “You must have hardly slept.” “Where will you work?” Cha Jeong-mi, who majored in the Landscape Civil Design Department, was invited to the talk concert held on the 9th.
The concert’s theme was ‘If you are living according to your own thoughts, don’t worry, everything is going well!’
Ms. Cha graduated from Gyeongnam Information University’s Environmental Landscape Department and holds various certifications such as Landscape Industry Engineer, Natural Ecology Restoration Industry Engineer, Forestry Engineer, and Forestry Management & Forestry Engineering Technician, making her a ‘MacGyver-type’ talent in the landscape field.
She passed the professional engineer certification in landscape architecture last month. She is also awaiting final results for the Natural Environment Management Technician and Urban Planning Engineer certifications. In short, she is a landscape expert.
At the concert, Ms. Cha said, “Landscape architecture is a medium that connects nature and the city. Studying to understand nature is the most important thing.”
She also said, “I believe that while there may be declining industries, there are no declining people. If juniors are going through a tunnel right now, I hope they don’t stay inside it but take one more step forward and challenge themselves whenever they see an opportunity,” urging a relentless ‘push-type’ attitude.
Song Won-seon, a second-year student in the Landscape Civil Design Department attending the talk concert, said, “It was very good to meet a senior who is one of the few landscape professional engineers nationwide and hear many vivid stories. I resolved to set clear goals to become like her.”
