Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority Steps Up to Help Plum Farmers with Labor Shortage
Sharing the Joy of Local Farm's Plum Harvest While Sweating Together
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority visited farms in Jinsang-myeon and Daap-myeon, Gwangyang City, where labor shortages have occurred due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and aging population, to help with plum harvesting from June 8 to 9 (for two days).
On that day, 30 employees from the Gwangyang Economic Authority participated in the rural labor assistance site, working hard to help with plum harvesting and sorting. The farmers expressed their gratitude, saying, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in the elderly population, there was a lot of concern about labor shortages ahead of the plum harvest, but despite the hot weather, the employees' help was a great support."
