Wonju City, Mass Crackdown on Businesses and Users Violating 'Gathering Ban'
17 Businesses and 119 Users Caught, Total Fines Imposed Amount to 37.4 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Wonju City in Gangwon Province has caught a large number of businesses and users violating the ban on gatherings of five or more people.
According to Wonju City on the 9th, to prevent COVID-19 cluster infections, inspections were conducted on entertainment facilities, resulting in the detection of 17 businesses and 119 users violating the gathering ban, with a total fine of 37.4 million KRW imposed.
Business managers or operators of the detected establishments were fined 1.5 million KRW per business, and 119 users were fined 100,000 KRW per person.

Earlier, from May 16 to 31, 51 confirmed cases occurred linked to entertainment establishments in Wonju. The city conducted proactive testing on a total of 2,169 people over four rounds, all of whom tested negative.
