[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 9th that it will collect public opinions on the main directions of fiscal policy using the National Participation Budget website.
First, starting today, a public survey on the budget formulation direction for 2022 will be conducted for about three weeks. Following this, an online comment discussion will be held regarding six key tasks related to budget formulation.
The ministry plans to listen to public opinions on topics closely related to citizens' lives, such as youth employment, support for reemployment, re-startup, and competitiveness enhancement for self-employed individuals, and reflect them in policies. Opinions will also be gathered on issues such as resolving COVID-19 learning gaps, responding to low birth rates and aging population, overcoming regional extinction risks, and overseas expansion plans for K-brands linked to the Korean Wave.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Economy and Finance will also promote online comment discussions on medium-term investment directions and expenditure efficiency tasks. It aims to collect opinions on investment directions for the next five years and examine directions for expenditure efficiency and restructuring of existing budget projects.
