Ministry of the Interior and Safety Holds Public Vote for 'Regional Balanced New Deal Excellent Projects Contest'... October 10-14
Online Voting at Gwanghwamun 1st Street... Around 24 Projects Selected as Finalists for Late June Competition Announcement
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 9th that it will conduct a public vote to select the winning projects for the 'Regional Balanced New Deal Excellent Project Contest' through Gwanghwamun 1st Street from the 10th to June 14th.
The contest projects are those regional balanced New Deal initiatives planned by local governments that are expected to yield results and have the potential for nationwide expansion. Through the Regional Balanced New Deal Excellent Project Contest, the Ministry plans to boost the Regional Balanced New Deal, discover excellent cases that residents can feel, and promote early achievement of results in the Regional Balanced New Deal.
The projects up for voting include 21 Digital New Deal projects, 17 Green New Deal projects, and 2 others. These were selected through written evaluations by field experts from 125 Digital New Deal, 114 Green New Deal, and 13 other projects submitted by 161 local governments. Citizens can vote by selecting three projects each from the Digital New Deal and Green New Deal categories, for a total of six projects they consider creative and highly effective. After the public vote, the Ministry will reflect 50% of the written evaluation results and 50% of the public voting results to select about 24 projects by the end of June as finalists for the contest presentation.
Additionally, the final excellent cases will be selected through evaluations by experts (50%) and representatives of cities and provinces (50%). For the approximately 16 projects selected as excellent cases, financial incentives (special grants totaling 30 billion KRW) will be provided in the second half of the year to facilitate smooth project implementation, serving as seed money for local governments to promote Regional Balanced New Deal projects.
