The provision of badges as part of vaccination incentives is limited to encouragement and courtesy purposes.
On the 8th, Sangwon Lee, head of the Epidemiological Investigation and Analysis Team at the Central Disease Control Headquarters, stated at the regular COVID-19 briefing, "As part of the incentives for those participating in vaccination, badges and stickers will be provided to vaccine recipients." However, he emphasized, "Vaccination badges are intended for encouragement and courtesy and cannot be used as proof."
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Task Force announced on the 8th that it plans to distribute vaccination proof stickers that can be used for verification purposes to vaccine recipients aged 65 and older who have difficulty using the mobile electronic certificate 'COOV app.'
Currently, the available methods for vaccination proof include paper certificates issued at vaccination centers or online, and electronic certificate apps.
In addition to these, proof stickers that can be attached to identification cards such as resident registration cards or driver's licenses will be introduced. This measure appears to consider the inconvenience of carrying paper certificates and the difficulty elderly people have in using electronic certificates.
Once the vaccination stickers are introduced, elderly individuals aged 65 and older who wish to receive them can visit community centers, verify their identity, and obtain the stickers. The stickers will contain personal information such as name and date of birth to verify consistency with the ID, as well as vaccination details including dose number and vaccination date.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Task Force plans to issue the stickers from the end of this month after developing the issuance system, promoting related information, and providing usage guidance. A task force official added, "If the vaccination stickers are forged or altered, criminal penalties under the Penal Code for forgery or falsification of official documents and false official document creation may apply, with imprisonment of up to 10 years possible."

After a preparation period for production, the badges will be distributed to vaccine recipients through vaccination centers and community centers.
