Providing Voluntary Participation Opportunities for Creating Women-Friendly Cities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will hold a contest for the ‘Women-Friendly City Regional Specialization Project’ to discover various projects considering the characteristics of the local community so that women-friendly city policies can spread in the daily lives of citizens.
The application period for this contest, which is promoted to discover regional specialized projects suitable for the city’s characteristics together with citizens and to realize the core values of a women-friendly city?equality, care, safety, and communication?and to improve women’s welfare, is from the 7th to the 18th, and the projects are scheduled to be implemented starting in July.
The application fields include projects that align with the goals of creating a women-friendly city, such as establishing a foundation for gender equality, jobs, safety, care, and social participation. The total support scale is 40 million KRW, and the project expenses will be supported differentially according to the project content.
Eligibility for application is nonprofit corporations or private organizations whose main purpose is public interest activities and that have their location in the city as of the announcement date.
The city is striving to create a residential environment where anyone wants to settle and live, based on the basic ideology of a women-friendly city that women’s happiness is connected to the happiness of all citizens, and hopes that citizens will actively participate to vitalize various women-friendly policies.
