On the 7th, the Associated Press (AP) reported this citing police and other sources. It is known that about 1,100 passengers were on board the trains.
The accident occurred that morning in the Ghotki district of Sindh province in the south.
Local police officer Usman Abdullah told AP, "The Millat Express train derailed, and then the Sir Syed Express train crashed into it."
At the accident site, rescue teams, police, and nearby villagers are transporting the casualties to local hospitals.
One citizen said in an interview with local media, "About 100 citizens were injured," and "I saw rescue teams moving more than 30 bodies."
It was also reported that about 20 passengers are trapped inside the derailed train.
Abdullah emphasized, "Rescuing the passengers trapped inside the train is the top priority."
The exact cause of the derailment has not yet been determined, and authorities announced that an investigation into the cause of the accident will begin soon.

Train accidents often occur in Pakistan due to poor signaling systems and other issues. Previously, in 1990, a passenger train in operation collided with a stationary freight train, resulting in 210 deaths.
