[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] On the morning of the 4th, a landmine exploded at Janghang Wetland in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in the amputation of the ankle of a man in his 50s, Mr. A, who was conducting environmental cleanup work.
Mr. A was transported to Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital and is undergoing emergency surgery. The accident is reported to have occurred when a buried landmine was washed away by heavy rain during the removal of invasive plants and environmental cleanup work at Janghang Wetland, causing the explosion.
