On the 4th, at De Beach Golf Course in Geoje City, Gyeongnam (Par 72, 7,157 yards), Kim defeated Seo Hyung-seok (24) by 1 hole in the round of 32 of the KPGA Descent Korea Munsingwear Match Play (total prize money 800 million KRW). After the rounds of 64 and 32, the 16 players were divided into 4 groups again to play 3 group league matches in a unique format. The first place in each group advances to the final and the 3rd-4th place match based on points, while the second place advances to the 5th-8th place matches.
Kim Tae-hoon showed strong finishing power, successfully making a crucial ‘par save’ at the 16th hole (par 4), where he was trailing by 1 hole. He secured a comeback with consecutive birdies on the 17th and 18th holes. It is interesting that he has finally broken the ‘No. 1 seed jinx.’ In the past 10 tournaments, the No. 1 seed was eliminated in the first round 6 times, and Park Sang-hyun (38, Dong-A Pharmaceutical)’s quarterfinal finish in 2012 was the best result. He expressed confidence, saying, "I will win every match and advance to the final."
