Naju-si Operates 'Senior Seed Community Joint Work' at Eoullim Center
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 3rd that it recently operated the senior job project "Elderly Seed Community Joint Work," linked with the Naju Senior Club, at the Yeonggang-dong Eoullim Center.
The joint work involves simple tasks such as turning fruit nets for pears and apples to supply to orchard farms, aiming to promote communication among peers, overcome depression in old age, and generate income.
Currently, 23 seniors selected through an open recruitment and screening process in April participate in the work for 3 hours a day (10 times a month).
The city and the Senior Club plan to discover simple tasks that seniors can easily participate in, such as trimming and packaging seams of face masks and making paper bags.
Additionally, through mutual cooperation with the Yeonggang-dong Urban Regeneration Residents' Council, they plan to promote center revitalization programs such as cultural and artistic performances and resident autonomy programs utilizing the Eoullim Center facilities.
The city is conducting the lifelong learning excellent program art activity project named "Working Seniors, Drawing Youth" for 15 seniors aged 60 and over at the Eoullim Center.
