Using an unmanned aerial vehicle (length 1.44m, width 1.80m, speed 50?80 km/h, maximum flight time 90 minutes) introduced and operated since last year, Mokpo Maritime Police patrolled the Hwawon Peninsula area in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do on the 2nd to identify the distribution status of marine debris.
Additionally, based on the analysis results of debris distribution and inflow routes captured by the unmanned aerial vehicle, a "Marine Debris Information Map" will be created to promote continuous monitoring and coordinate with the relevant local governments for marine debris collection activities.
A representative of Mokpo Maritime Police stated, “We will actively utilize unmanned aerial vehicles to establish a coastal marine pollution monitoring system and promptly conduct cleanup activities to lead the creation of a clean marine environment.”
