Gwangju Dong-gu Selected as Best in Proactive Administration for 'Cleaning Administration Innovation Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Yoon Seop-hyun, head of the Cleaning Administration Division in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, received the top award for proactive administration.
Dong-gu announced that it has finally selected three cases of excellent proactive administration in the first half of this year, including ‘Special Management of Cleaning Vulnerable Areas through Public-Private Cooperation,’ and selected three outstanding employees who carried out the work as ‘Proactive Administration’ exemplary public officials.
To establish a culture of proactive administration in the public sector, Dong-gu has taken the lead in spreading proactive administration by ▲providing incentives for selecting outstanding public officials in the first and second half of the year ▲strengthening proactive administration mindset through training for all employees ▲completing proactive administration cyber education.
Yoon, who won the top award, broke away from repetitive and passive administrative practices led by the authorities, and through a change of mindset, directly involved village residents in policies to transform vulnerable areas, carrying out an active cleaning administration innovation project.
The Excellence Award was given to Lee Byung-jin, an official of the Urban Development Division, who solved the severe traffic congestion problem expected after the opening of the Jisan IC exit road by securing a detour road through the promotion of a new road construction from the Jisan IC exit to the College of Education at Chosun University.
The Encouragement Award was given to Kim Seon-ah, head of the Welfare Policy Division, who is establishing the Dong-gu style welfare brand through resident-centered welfare policies such as the Social Security Special Support Zone project for balanced welfare service provision between regions, the Hope Stepping Stone Class project supporting customized services for vulnerable youth, and the Dong-gu style customized support project for single-person households.
Dong-gu plans to share the selected proactive administration cases with all employees and spread them to other local governments to encourage the establishment of a culture of proactive administration in the public sector.
Selected employees will receive performance points and incentives, and their departments will be awarded bonuses, aiming to eradicate passive administration in the public sector and establish a creative and proactive public service culture.
