Confirmed Cases Increase from 30 to 32
On the 31st, with 430 new COVID-19 cases recorded, maintaining the 400s for the second consecutive day, citizens are getting tested at the temporary screening clinic in Seoul Station Plaza. View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] At a high school in Gangbuk, Seoul, a large number of 12th-grade students were infected with COVID-19, and the number of confirmed cases increased to 32 overnight.
On the 1st, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that as of 10 a.m., one 11th-grade student and one 12th-grade student at S High School tested positive, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 32.
After one 12th-grade student was initially confirmed positive on the 30th of last month, 29 more tested positive on the 31st, and two additional confirmed cases were reported on the morning of the 1st. All staff members tested negative, and the results of student tests are pending. At a nearby middle school, 330 students and 37 staff members have been tested, and results are awaited.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct remote classes for all grades from the 31st until June 14th. Since all confirmed cases are 12th graders, the mock College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) organized by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation on the 3rd will be held online.

The school has set up a temporary screening clinic on campus and is conducting tests for 11th and 12th-grade students as well. Students residing in Gangbuk-gu are being tested at the screening clinic set up at the school, while students living in other districts attending remote classes are guided to get tested individually at nearby testing centers.
