Korean Air Association "Need to Extend Employment Retention Subsidy Period"
Submission of Proposal to the Ministry of Employment and Labor
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Korea Air Transport Association announced on the 1st that it has submitted a petition to the Ministry of Employment and Labor requesting an extension of the support period for employment retention subsidies in the aviation industry.
The aviation industry is concerned that the paid employment retention subsidy support period, which is limited to an annual maximum of 180 days, will expire at the end of this month, and that the employment situation of aviation workers will rapidly deteriorate due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the Korea Air Transport Association requested that the support period be further extended due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
The Korea Air Transport Association emphasized, "We have received great help in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis through the comprehensive establishment and implementation of a pan-governmental support and revitalization plan for the domestic air transport industry, a national key industry," adding, "Continuous support is necessary to ensure that the effects of the policy support so far are not wasted."
