Before the vaccination rollout at designated medical institutions within Seongdong-gu, the district conducted sequential pre-registrations targeting residents aged 60 to 74. Since the vaccination reservation began on May 6, the current reservation rate (as of 6 p.m. on May 31) stands at 70.8%, with 36,274 out of 51,256 eligible residents having made reservations.
This marks an increase from the 61.2% pre-registration rate recorded on May 26, surpassing 70% within just five days.
In preparation for AstraZeneca vaccinations starting on May 27, the district conducted comprehensive pre-inspections of 89 designated medical institutions. From May 26, they checked the installation and operation of digital thermometers and verified vaccine samples, ensuring thorough on-site inspections to prepare for the vaccination process.
Additionally, starting May 21, Seongdong-gu became the first in Seoul to proactively produce and distribute a ‘Vaccination Completion Certification’ badge to encourage participation in vaccinations. This initiative aimed to enhance residents’ psychological stability and pride, fostering high trust in the vaccine and contributing to the increased pre-registration rate, according to district officials.
Meanwhile, in response to the continuous rise in pre-registration rates, the district has prepared administrative measures to support the return to daily life for those who have completed vaccination. From June 14, 161 local senior centers that have been closed will reopen. These centers will operate as rest areas on weekdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., excluding eating and program activities.
