Police Warn of 'Smishing' Impersonating Cryptocurrency Exchanges
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] As smishing scams impersonating cryptocurrency exchanges continue, the police have issued a special warning to exercise caution.
The Cyber Investigation Bureau of the National Police Agency issued a damage alert on the 31st titled "Beware of Smishing Impersonating Virtual Asset Exchanges."
According to the police, recent cases have been found where scammers impersonate cryptocurrency exchanges and send fake internet addresses (URLs) under the pretext of overseas logins, inducing victims to enter their IDs and passwords to steal personal information.

The police advised caution when clicking URLs in messages from unknown sources and urged compliance with damage prevention guidelines, such as restricting the installation of apps from unknown sources through mobile phone app security settings.
