View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Jeong Young-ae, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, meets with youth committee members to report on the progress of youth policy implementation and to hear related opinions.
On the 31st, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that it will hold a youth committee members' meeting of the Youth Policy Committee at the Government Seoul Office in the afternoon to share the current status of youth policy implementation and gather opinions.
The Youth Policy Committee is an organization established under Article 10 of the Youth Basic Act to deliberate and coordinate major matters related to youth policy. It is composed of the Minister of Gender Equality and Family (chairperson), government members, and private members.
Since the amendment of the Youth Basic Act took effect in June 2019, the related regulations have been changed to require that one-fifth of the youth policy committee members be youth members. The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family appointed six youths as private members last year.
The Ministry plans to actively collect opinions from youth members for the Basic Plan for Youth Policy, which will begin preparation next year.

Jeong Young-ae, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, emphasized, "It is necessary to change the perspective to recognize youth not only as subjects of protection and guidance but as key members of our society today," adding, "It is more important than anything else to operate systems that guarantee youth participation in policy processes such as the Youth Policy Committee in a substantial manner."
