MOU Signing Between Ministry of SMEs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Employment, and Korea Federation of SMEs
Alleviating Job Mismatch Between SMEs and Young Job Seekers
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The government and the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector have pledged to cooperate in resolving the youth job mismatch issue.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Korea Federation of SMEs signed a memorandum of understanding on the 31st to promote job matching between SMEs and young job seekers.
This agreement, held at the Korea Federation of SMEs in Yeouido, Seoul, was arranged to alleviate the job mismatch between young job seekers struggling with employment due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and SMEs.
The organizations agreed to mutually share youth job information and work together to activate job matching.
The main points of the agreement include ▲efforts to discover outstanding SMEs and mutual sharing of their lists ▲enhancement of the utilization of job platforms ▲collaborative promotion of youth job support projects targeting SMEs ▲discovery and designation of vocational high school field training companies ▲matching between SMEs and job seekers to promote employment in smart manufacturing companies ▲securing opportunities for young job seekers to gain work experience in excellent SMEs.
At the event, a youth job forum titled "Korea's Youth Ask" was held, providing a communication platform where youth, SMEs, and the government freely discussed youth employment issues together.
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced the results of the "2021 Youth Job Perception Survey," conducted last month with 1,000 young job seekers. It also introduced regional recruitment trends and company information of outstanding SMEs using the "Pretty Good SME" platform.
Minister Kwon Chil-seung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated, "We must resolve the job mismatch between young people who want to work and SMEs that need workers," adding, "We will cooperate with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Korea Federation of SMEs to discover and promote SMEs that are good workplaces for youth."
