"Mixed India-UK COVID-19 Variants Confirmed in Vietnam"
Amid the emergency caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Vietnam, on the 25th (local time), citizens in the capital city Hanoi are walking through a street of shops that have closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Major foreign media reported on the 29th (local time), citing the Vietnamese online media VnExpress, that a new variant virus combining the Indian and UK variants of COVID-19 has been identified in Vietnam.
According to VnExpress, Nguyen Thanh Long, Vietnam's Minister of Health, stated that the newly discovered hybrid variant virus is spreading rapidly through the air.
Minister Thanh Long explained, "After analyzing the genetic sequences of new confirmed cases, we found that this is a new variant combining the Indian and UK variants," adding, "We will announce this fact to the world."
