Sebaet Island Recruiting Participants for Art Mentoring Education for Underprivileged Youth
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Sebitseom, a landmark of the Han River, is launching a program to nurture gifted young artists.
On the 28th, Sebitseom announced that it is recruiting 30 participants for the ‘Emerging Artists & Gifted Art Students Mentoring Program,’ which will be held in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council until the 11th of next month.
Since 2019, Sebitseom’s mentoring program has been providing gifted young artists, who face difficulties in accessing art education due to economic conditions, with emotional support and diverse hands-on experiences to help them decide their career paths. This year marks the third year of the program.
This mentoring program will invite artist Hyun Chang-ho, who serialized the webtoons ‘Hapche Dosul Samsindo 1,2,’ and artist Jo Hyun-bo, who published comic champ shorts such as ‘Loners’ and ‘Cheonsang Girl,’ to conduct online webtoon drawing lectures every weekend from June to September.
Participants will also carry out individual projects creating webtoons themed around ‘islands’ alongside the online education. The works produced through the projects and the creative process will be exhibited to the public at Sebitseom this fall.
All participants will be provided with tablets for their work, and outstanding participants will receive awards from the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council after the program ends, along with opportunities to work as promotional supporters if they wish.
