Recruitment of 'Resident Council' for Urban Regeneration Activation at Guui Station, Gwangjin-gu
Residents wishing to participate must submit an application form via email or in person.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is continuously recruiting residents to participate in the residents' council, which is part of the urban regeneration revitalization project in the Guui Station area.
The residents' council is formed to promote a resident-centered regeneration project by allowing residents to take the lead in presenting opinions and participating in the process of establishing and implementing the urban regeneration revitalization plan for the Guui Station area.
The recruitment targets are residents with addresses within the urban regeneration revitalization project area around Guui Station, or those who do not have an address but are landowners, living area residents, or those recommended by five residents and further recommended by the project general coordinator or the secretariat chief.
The main roles include ▲ inducing residents' voluntary participation and forming regional consensus through community activities ▲ mediating resident conflicts to reach agreements and collecting diverse resident opinions ▲ discovering projects, participating in planning, and promoting regeneration projects as the main agents of urban regeneration.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the participation application form from the Gwangjin-gu website, filling it out, and sending it via email or by visiting the Urban Regeneration Field Support Center to submit it in person.
Also, scanning the QR code attached to the promotional poster will directly connect to the application form.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The urban regeneration project around Guui Station is a project to revitalize the shrinking local commercial district centered on Migaro and improve the residential environment, and residents must be at the center of the project.” He added, “Residents, who feel the need for change more closely than anyone else, will be able to discover many practical ideas by taking the lead and sharing their opinions.”
Seoul City's urban regeneration revitalization project is a specialized project that induces economic revitalization by utilizing resources in declining industrial and commercial areas and areas with historical assets.

The area around Guui Station was finally selected as an urban regeneration revitalization area in November 2019 after the Eastern District Court and Prosecutor's Office relocated to Songpa-gu in March 2017, causing a rapid departure of related business establishments and decline of the commercial district. The project has been underway for five years since 2020.
