Establishment of the Largest Prize Money Women's Tournament in Korea
Conducted Over 3 Months from Amateur Qualifiers to Finals
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced on the 27th that it will hold the ‘IBK Industrial Bank of Korea Cup Women’s Baduk Masters’ tournament at the IBK Industrial Bank of Korea headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul, in a signing ceremony with the Korea Baduk Association. At the signing ceremony, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea President Yoon Jong-won and Korea Baduk Association President Lim Chae-jung, along with other officials, attended to commemorate the establishment of the new women’s Baduk competition.
In particular, the ‘IBK Industrial Bank of Korea Cup Women’s Baduk Masters’ has significantly expanded its scope by allowing amateur players to participate in order to promote women’s Baduk. The tournament is scheduled to run for three months, starting with the amateur qualifying round on the 10th of next month, followed by preliminaries, main rounds, and culminating in the finals. From the quarterfinals onward, the main rounds will be broadcast live on Korea Baduk Association’s Baduk TV.
