Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration to Establish AI Research Hub... Consortium Selection by End of July
Ministry of Science and ICT to Post Announcement on the 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The 'Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub' project, which gathers domestic industry-academia-research AI capabilities to foster world-class AI research and talent, is set to be launched in earnest.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 27th that it will announce the AI Innovation Hub project on the 28th, accept applications for 30 days, and make the final selection by the end of July.
The project briefing session will be held on the 3rd of next month at the Daejeon Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) for pre-registered participants. Pre-registration is open from the 28th of this month to the 2nd of next month.
The AI Innovation Hub is a large-scale consortium involving multiple institutions from industry, academia, and research centers centered around universities. Participating institutions will mutually connect personnel and infrastructure and collaboratively conduct large-scale, high-level challenging research projects.
The consortium encourages participation from more universities, companies, and government-funded research institutes, including AI graduate schools. Even after the consortium is selected, it will be operated in an open form that guarantees additional participation. Researchers' autonomy will be maximally guaranteed throughout all stages of research planning, execution, and evaluation.
Additionally, the project will be carried out in parallel with the establishment of computing infrastructure. By linking existing computing resources held by each participating institution, it plans to secure the computing power necessary for world-class research.
An operating committee, composed of top experts from industry, academia, and research, will also be formed as the highest decision-making body to discuss major matters related to the overall operation of the hub project. Details on the AI Innovation Hub selection and application forms will be posted on the IITP website at 12 PM on the 28th.
