SPC Samlip Signs Exclusive Domestic Contract with US Yogurt Brand 'Chobani'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] SPC Samlip announced on the 27th that it has signed an exclusive supply and sales contract in South Korea with the American yogurt brand Chobani.
'Chobani' is one of the top 3 brands in the U.S. yogurt market and the number one brand in the Greek yogurt market. It uses milk sourced from cows raised under an animal welfare program and has gained popularity as a ‘healthy yogurt’ through differentiated design and marketing. Founded in 2005 by Turkish entrepreneur Hamdi Ulukaya, the company has grown into a business with annual sales of $2 billion and is recognized as the ‘most innovative food company’ in the U.S.
Starting in July, SPC Samlip will exclusively supply Chobani products to domestic distributors and plans to produce products using domestic raw materials in the future. Through this, the company aims to target the yogurt market worth 980 billion KRW (2020, Nielsen Korea data) and further expand its fresh food business.
