Lotte Mart Installs Label-Free Water Bottle Collection Bins... Discount Coupons Given Upon Return
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Mart announced on the 27th that it will collaborate with Sansu Beverage to introduce upcyclable label-free bottled water and an ‘ECO PET Collection Box’.
The ‘I’m Eco Label-Free Bottled Water’ uses plant-based containers containing 30% sugarcane, resulting in carbon emissions that are more than 40% lower than regular PET bottled water. Additionally, dedicated collection boxes for this product have been installed at the ‘How Can We Help?’ corners in 19 Lotte Mart stores. To encourage customer participation, discount coupons are provided to customers who return empty water bottles.
The collected PET bottles will go through a sorting process and be upcycled into eco-friendly clothing and bags, which will be offered as customer gifts. In the future, Lotte Mart plans to introduce a PET collection system in cooperation with local governments to enable more customers to participate in upcycling.
