Patriot Kim Guk-ju, Active in the Gwangbokgun, Passes Away on the 26th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Patriotic activist Kim Guk-ju, who served as a member of the Liberation Army during the Japanese colonial period, passed away on the 26th at the age of 96.
According to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on the day, Kim Guk-ju, born in 1924 in Wonsan, Hamnam, enlisted in the 3rd Unit of the Liberation Army in October 1943. In January 1945, he was appointed as the liaison officer for the lower Anhui Province area, where he worked to guide comrades and secure underground operation bases. In recognition of his contributions, the government awarded Kim Guk-ju the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Patriotic Medal in 1990.

The funeral hall was set up at the Central Veterans Hospital Funeral Hall in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, with the funeral procession scheduled for 6 a.m. on the 28th. After the funeral, he will be buried in the 6th section for independence activists at the National Daejeon Cemetery. With Kim Guk-ju's passing, the number of surviving patriotic activists has decreased to a total of 20, including 17 domestically and 3 abroad.
