Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station "Remember Lightweight Partition Walls in Apartment Complexes"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) has launched a campaign to promote the use of lightweight partitions for evacuation during fires in apartments and other multi-family housing.
According to Gwangsan Fire Station on the 26th, since the amendment of the Housing Act in 1992, lightweight partitions have been mandatory in multi-family housing with three or more floors.
Lightweight partitions, made of thin gypsum material walls, can be easily broken by anyone, including the elderly, by kicking or hitting with a hammer.
If you are familiar with their location, you can safely evacuate to the neighboring unit.
However, some households are unaware of the existence of lightweight partitions.
Additionally, to solve insufficient storage space, some change emergency evacuation spaces for other uses by installing built-in closets or storage cabinets.
