20,000 Visitors at Hamyang Daebongsan Healing Valley Opening... #1 in Online Reservations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongnam Hamyang Daebongsan Healing Valley has surpassed 20,000 visitors within a month of its opening and continues its soaring popularity by ranking first in the leisure category on the online reservation site (Interpark) and selling out tickets for a consecutive month.
According to Hamyang County on the 26th, an analysis of various statistical data from April 21, when Daebongsan Healing Valley fully opened, to May 20, a month later, showed that 14,170 people visited Daebong Skyland, of whom 6,180 used the monorail and zipline, generating revenue of 93,092,000 KRW.
It was also found that 4,684 guests stayed at Daebong Camping Land, generating revenue of 68,116,000 KRW. Despite operating the monorail at 50% capacity due to COVID-19 Level 1.5 restrictions, Daebong Skyland achieved these results.
This statistical survey compared and verified data extracted from self-collected sources such as COVID-19 fever check wristband consumption and data from floating population detection sensors installed at about 10 major locations. Considering simple visitors not captured in the statistics, the total number of visitors to the Healing Valley is estimated to exceed 20,000.
The county expects annual revenue to reach 3 billion KRW if the current popularity trend continues and the COVID-19 situation improves, taking into account the increase in peak season visitors and the winter closure period.
Compared to the annual operating labor cost of about 1.8 billion KRW for Daebongsan Healing Valley, this is considered a fairly favorable financial soundness indicator when considering local employment and regional economic revitalization effects.
The county is also preparing customized marketing plans based on accessibility analysis of the newly established Seo Hamyang Hi-Pass IC and real-time visitor movement analysis data using floating population detection sensors.
Analyzing the traffic volume of Seo Hamyang Hi-Pass IC (provided by Korea Expressway Corporation Namwon Branch) for one month before and after the Healing Valley opening day on April 21, the number of vehicles increased from 4,947 before the opening to 6,546 after, indicating an approximately 25% increase in external tourists.
Additionally, floating population detection sensors have identified that a significant number of visitors to Daebongsan Healing Valley use restaurants and traditional markets in the Sangnim Park district. It is expected that by around June, when sufficient statistical data is accumulated, accurate analysis data on the regional economic ripple effects of Daebongsan Healing Valley will be secured.
