Daewoo E&C Begins Construction of Yeongwol Eco Wind Power Plant
Daewoo E&C announced on the 26th that it has signed a construction contract for the Yeongwol Eco Wind Power Plant and will commence the project in earnest.
The wind power plant, to be built in Sangdong-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, will have a capacity of 46.2 MW and an annual power generation of 73 GWh. The contract amount for this project, commissioned by Yeongwol Eco Wind and Gurae Resident Wind Power, is 91.7 billion KRW. Completion is scheduled for 2023.
Daewoo E&C plans to leverage its construction experience and technical expertise gained from winning the Yeongwol Eco Wind Power Plant project to actively expand the wind power market in the region. To this end, the company will actively pursue additional projects such as the Yeongwol Wind Power Phase 2 Project, Yeongwol Wind Power Phase 3 Project, and Sangdong Fuel Cell Project.
A Daewoo E&C official stated, "In line with our mid- to long-term strategy, we will actively participate in various renewable energy businesses such as wind power, solar power, and hydrogen fuel cells to grow into a sustainable company."

Meanwhile, Yeongwol-gun expects the wind power plant project to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant since the closure of mines, and to create jobs. The county also plans to develop tourism courses such as trekking and MTB (mountain biking) by linking the wind power plant with the clean natural environment.
